Wow did I make some mistakes for a long time! Th Wow did I make some mistakes for a long time!

This list isn’t to encourage you to spend all your money on gear. This is to help you realize that maybe it seems easier for some people because they just are more comfortable in their gear than you.

How to adjust👇

Shoes: Find your most grippy sneakers and wear those. Id rather bring back up socks than bulky heavy shoes.

If you want to buy I’d recommend trying on some trail shoes from:

@merrell
@altrarunning
@salomon
@dannerboots
@topoathletic

Clothes:

If you have no clue where to start, think breathable, quick drying, athletic clothes. If you don’t own any you can easily find some affordable options at the thriftstore or @rei re-sale section.

Socks:

Your workout socks will do the job for most moderate hikes. Think moisture wicking and comfortable. My favorite socks rn if you are going to buy are from:

@injinji
@darntoughvermont
@bombas

Trail mistakes:

If you are gonna look at @alltrails make sure to read the comments and the elevation. If someone comments “hard work” probably don’t believe the rating all trials gives of “easy.”

Backpacks:

Drawstring bags and the bag you have at home will work for a while on short hikes. But quickly you’ll be regretting it. Used gear stores always have TONS of day packs that are pretty affordable. I’d also check FB market place or REI resale.

If this helped and you’re new to the trails, WELCOME!! I’m glad you’re here(:
